Financial Operations Manager

We are hiring a Financial Operations Manager to join our growing team. As a startup, we are agile and constantly evolving. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with change and excited to be part of a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.

As a Financial Operations Manager at Backed you will perform and oversee all product related financial operations in a fast-growing blockchain startup. In this role, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including monitoring bank, cryptocurrency, and securities accounts, financial reporting, forecasting, initiating transactions, buying and selling equities and other financial products, hedging equity positions, and performing internal audits. You will work closely with the finance and compliance team to support the overall financial operations of the company and help drive strategic growth, and with the product and tech team to ensure accurate execution of transactions and balancing of accounts.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Manage daily trade activity across our suite of products, including stocks and money movements, buy and sell equities and other financial products, and hedge equity positions
• Manage and monitor daily rebalance activities across various working capitals, including the settlement of bank and cryptocurrency accounts
• Work with Product and R&D to improve system capabilities and streamline process automation
• Oversight of accounting books and records (“shadow book management”)
• Support  due diligence process with partners and providers, and conduct investigations of transactions discrepancies or settlement delays
• Perform internal audits and assist with the preparation of financial statements and reports for management and investors reviews
• Improve operational efficiency and margins by optimizing costs of rendered services
• Support the finance team with ad-hoc projects and analysis as needed
• Operate between London and US financial hours - based in UTC +1 to -3 preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business management, business information systems, or related field
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a financial operations role -  bank operations, brokerage operations, trade settlements, investment fund operations, or similar experience
• Minimum 2 years of experience with blockchain and cryptocurrency tools and infrastructure, wallets, block explorers, DEXs, stablecoins,  transactions of different assets across multiple blockchains
• Thorough understanding of financial and equity markets
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Fluent with Excel. High proficiency with IT tools such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Slack
• Languages:  fluent English - a must
• Ability to work remotely and be part of a global team. Comfortable in a fast-paced and evolving startup environment
